Social Security Decisions Aren’t Just About Picking an Age

They affect your income, taxes, and long-term security—often for the rest of your life.

This short email series is designed to help women understand what actually matters with Social Security before making a decision they’ll live with for years.

Start the Social Security Decision Series

One short email per day. No pressure. No sales pitch. Just clarity.

This series is designed for women who want clarity before making a Social Security decision.

You don’t need to have everything figured out.
You just need to want a better understanding of how this decision works—and why it matters.

This series is especially helpful if you are:

  • Approaching retirement and want to feel confident before claiming Social Security
  • Married and want to be an informed, active part of the conversation
  • Divorced or widowed and navigating Social Security decisions on your own
  • Planning ahead, knowing you may one day be the primary decision-maker
  • Responsible with money—but still unsure how Social Security fits into the bigger picture

You don’t need to be close to filing.
You don’t need to make any decisions right now.

What you’ll learn in this series

This series doesn’t try to cover every rule.
It focuses on helping you understand the decisions that matter most.

You’ll learn:

  • What decisions actually matter with Social Security—and which ones tend to distract people
  • What many women can reasonably figure out on their own
  • Where Social Security decisions often become more complicated than expected
  • How taxes, income, and survivor benefits can change the picture
  • How to evaluate tradeoffs before making a permanent decision
  • How to decide whether professional guidance would be helpful for your situation

You won’t be asked to make a decision during this series.
The goal is clarity—not commitment.

How the series works

Here’s what to expect:

  • One short email per day
  • Each email focuses on a single, important idea
  • You can read them in just a few minutes
  • No homework, calculators, or preparation required
  • No pressure to take action at the end

You can stop at any time.
And you don’t need to be close to claiming Social Security for this to be useful.

Why I created this series

I work with women every day who are thoughtful, capable, and responsible—yet still feel unsure about Social Security decisions.

Not because they aren’t paying attention.
But because Social Security doesn’t exist in isolation.

It intersects with taxes, longevity, income planning, and life transitions in ways that aren’t always obvious—especially when roles change, or when women find themselves making these decisions on their own.

I created this series to give women a place to slow down, understand what actually matters, and think through their options before a decision feels urgent.

Too often, Social Security choices are made under pressure.
This series is meant to give you clarity before that pressure shows up.

A Little About Me

I’m Eric Blake, CFP®, founder of Blake Wealth Management and host of The Simply Retirement Podcast.

My work focuses on helping women navigate retirement decisions with clarity—especially when they’re doing it on their own, or preparing for a time when they may be.

Over the years, I’ve seen how often Social Security decisions are made quickly, quietly, or without fully understanding the long-term impact. This series reflects the same thoughtful conversations I have with clients—focused on understanding first, not rushing to answers.

Education always comes first.
Decisions come later.

Ready to get clarity—without pressure?

You don’t need to make any decisions right now.
This series is simply a place to understand what actually matters—so when the time comes, you feel informed rather than rushed.
